I’ve worked across journalism, television, and sports media, with experience in interviews, long-form reporting, field production, and live commentary. I began my career in traditional media, including Southern Metropolis Daily and Hunan Broadcasting System, and today continue this work within the trail running and endurance sports community.
Much of my work is grounded in the field, whether interviewing athletes, following a race on site, producing stories, or providing live commentary. I’m especially drawn to work that involves being present, asking questions, observing what is happening, and turning firsthand information into stories that help others understand people and their experiences.

Rather than focusing only on race results, I’m interested in the people and systems behind the sport, including how athletes train, make decisions, use products, navigate setbacks, and experience the broader trail running community.
Field Reporting & Athlete Interviews
For major races, I often work on site and follow the event over multiple days.
This includes preparing athlete backgrounds and interview topics before arriving, conducting in-person interviews, observing athletes and race environments, and adapting questions as new stories emerge.
Being in the field gives me access to details that are difficult to understand remotely, from how athletes talk about equipment and training to how they behave and make decisions under race conditions.

Impact
Following the race, I presented our coverage strategy, livestream workflow, and audience results to the Western States 100 team. The presentation helped demonstrate the value of our Chinese-language coverage and how we introduced the race, athletes, and culture to a broader audience.
The organizers were highly satisfied with the collaboration and expressed interest in continuing to work with us on future coverage.
What This Work Brings to Research
Field reporting has strengthened my ability to ask better follow-up questions, observe behavior in context, and synthesize information as situations change. Following races on site has also deepened my interest in field research, where real-world environments can reveal behaviors, decisions, and product experiences that are difficult to understand remotely.
Earlier Work in Journalism & Television
Before moving into UX, I worked in journalism and television in China, where I developed an early foundation in interviewing, field reporting, story development, and working directly with people in real-world environments.
